Frenger International has advised Systra, the world leader for public transport infrastructure, on the acquisition of the British company JMP Consultants Ltd.
Founded in 1964, JMP is one of the UK-based leading transport consultancies, specialising in transport planning and engineering with a national network of 10 offices. In 2014, JMP generated sales of £12 million and employs 186 experts in transport planning, traffic and highway engineering, infrastructure other engineering areas. The company has recently worked on major projects including a number of rapid transit projects such as rail links between Heathrow airport and Reading, Waterloo and the South Rail network, developing the East Coast mainline strategic business case, and developing urban transport in the West Midlands.
This acquisition is the first transaction carried out by Frenger International on behalf of Systra Group, represented in the United Kingdom by Systra Ltd. It is the result of a screening of 2,000 potential acquisition targets in the UK corresponding to criteria defined by Systra. Our unique methods offered Systra the choice of cherry-picking from several “off target” potential targets.

This acquisition strengthens Systra’s position in the UK market, by consolidating its consultancy services and extending its portfolio of clients and partners and is part of Systra’s 2018 growth plan. The United Kingdom is a key country for the Group development. The country’s economic growth and increasing demand for mass transit, combined with the UK’s significant Rail modernization program, make it a high-potential market for urban and railway transport. With the acquisition of JMP, SYSTRA has attained a critical size in the United Kingdom, and secured its position in the transport planning and engineering market.
