Background
International Business Wales (formerly the Welsh Development Agency) is one of the largest IPAs in the world. It employs more than 1,200 people. Since its creation, the WDA has created and safeguarded hundred of thousands of jobs. Major recent investments include: Liberata, business process and IT outsourcing, 200 jobs Tesco, Financial Service Centre, 500 jobs Atradius, Credit Insurance & Credit Management, 580 jobs Zurich, Insurance, 460 jobs
Frenger's role
Frenger International was appointed by the WDA in 1997 to carry out FDI lead generation in France. The contract was renewed 4 times and over the years, Frenger has become the main FDI consultancy for IBW in France. Between 1997 and 2008, we have built a database for IBW of more than 7,000 French companies in France and in the UK. We have had five significant successes in the automotive, building materials and recruitment sectors, contributing to the creation and safeguard of several hundred jobs. We designed and implemented the Business Partner Match programme. This programme enables Welsh companies in financial difficulties or companies looking for investors to find potential acquirers in France.
Conclusion
Our largest successes for IBW include the acquisition in January 2006 of Acorn Recruitment by Synergie a leader in temporary placement, safeguarding 250 jobs as well as greenfield projects by Valtech and Sword, both creating more than 200 jobs each in the ICT sector.
