BUSINESS & DECISION (B&D)

Background

Business & Decision is one of the leading IT consultancies in Europe focusing on Business Intelligence and CRM services. The company is quoted on Euronext and employs over 1200 consultants in more than seven countries.

Frenger's role

In 2002 B & D commissioned Frenger International (FI) to identify and approach potential acquisition targets in the UK.

After extensive screening of the market, FI presented several targets to B & D. The first successful acquisition was SPS Infoquest Ltd in St Albans. It employed around 80 people in the UK and achieved sales of £5 million.

The Managing Director, Ian Huckle was looking for the support of a larger group to grow the business. SPS Infoquest became the platform of B & D in the UK market.

Frenger carried on working closely with B & D and in particular Ian Huckle to identify further bolt-on acquisitions to either provide additional critical mass or new skills to B & D. Within the space of two years, two more acquisitions were completed with Lenton PLC and Domino Ltd.

Conclusion

B & D UK operations now employ close to 200 people and generate annual sales of over £10 million. This story of multiple acquisitions originated and managed by FI has been repeated with several other clients in various sectors.
